Trimac Participates in Hiring Our Heroes Event

Trimac recently participated in Hiring Our Heroes Event in Houston, which had 3300 military veterans searching for job opportunities offered by the companies in attendance. The Trimac booth was headed by Michael Ortiz, Regional Recruiter – who himself is a US military veteran, along with Recruiter, Kelechi Ndujiuba.

Supporting initiatives such as Hiring Our Heroes continues the practice of Trimac partnering with military and veteran organizations to find jobs for those who have served their country:

  • Trimac has taken the Veteran Hiring Pledge which commits to hiring 100 veterans every year.
  • In 2016 Trimac was named as a finalist in the Most Valuable Employer (MVE) by Recruit Military.
  • Partnership with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR)to place veterans.
  • Partnership with the Transition Assistance Offices on select bases across the US.
  • Partnership with American Jobs for America’s Heroes that also assists National Guard and Military Spouses in finding jobs.

Petro Canada Give a “Hats Off” to Hugh McLorinan

Petro Canada Give a “Hats Off” to Hugh McLorinan

Petro-Canada is celebrating drivers who are making a difference in their network, and have recognized six Grand Prize drivers on their signage and web site. Along with this recognition, each recipient will receive $1000 in Petro-Canada gift cards to use for his personal use.

One of the drivers who has been awarded this illustrious designation is Hugh McLorinan, a Trimac Driver based in Ontario. Hugh was nominated for having driven 30+ years with no preventable accidents. Throughout Hugh’s career he has consistently shown a remarkable commitment to safety, even receiving a US Open Hat for saving a life in a moving collision from another vehicle.

A panel of judges consisting of six  Suncor employees selected winners based upon the character and reputation of the drivers nominated, including, but not limited to, their record and deeds as a professional truck driver, safe and reliable driving record, community involvement, and enthusiasm for Petro-Pass.

We truly thank Hugh for professionalism and commitment to safety, and we are very proud to have Hugh as part of our team!

Every two years the Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA) Road Knight Program recruits two exemplary professional drivers to be ambassadors for the transportation industry within Alberta. These “Road Knights” have a passion for the transportation industry as a whole, and are eager to share the benefits of a professional truck driving career to job seekers and high school students.

This year, Ed Stasyshyn was nominated via the Sherwood Park Branch, and then awarded the honoured position of Road Knight through an industry selection panel. Over his 46-year career, Ed Stasyshyn has accrued 3,400,000 collision-free kilometres, and is an amazing ambassador for Trimac, AMTA and the transportation industry.
